Giving Back, One Supply at a Time: Our Q1/Q2 Gift to RROKI

Every time you buy a kit, a pattern, or a class from OWL, 3% of that sale goes to Raptor Rehabilitation of Kentucky Inc. (RROKI), a Louisville nonprofit that cares for injured raptors and teaches the public about them. I think about that a lot while I'm weaving. The rhythm of the work feels a little like the patience it takes to help a wild creature.

This quarter I wanted to show you what that giving looks like in real life. Because of this community, OWL was able to donate the following to RROKI for the first half of the year:

• 5 packs of Fine & Ultrafine Sharpies
• 3 cases of gauze sponges
• 3 six-packs of air filters
• 5 bottles of laundry detergent
• 24 packs of printer paper
• 3 bottles of professional-grade vinegar

It isn't glamorous, but it's the everyday stuff that keeps a rehabilitation center running. There are wounds to dress, linens to wash, air to keep clean, records to keep, and cages and surfaces to tend. Every one of those items exists because someone picked up a basket kit, joined a class, or gave a Hoot Basket Gift Club box to a friend or themselves.
